Lavender Dupioni Corset

Pastel - Lavender Dupioni Corset

This Victorian corset has three layers of fabric to it and steel boning inside. One of the differences in this corset is it includes bust gores for a more uplifting fit.

The outer Lavender fabric is silk dupioni. Inside is material specifically for corsets called coutil. The fashion fabric has been flatlined to the coutil to give it a lot of strength. The inside is a 50/50 cotton/silk blend. The color is a deeper purple. The ribbon in the back is single sided satin and there is 5 yards of it. If the corset is laced fully you will have a lot of ribbon hanging down which is why I used ribbon as opposed to corset lacing, much easier to shove under the corset and out of sight. If you prefer the lacing though I can substitute it.

The boning inside is a mixture of European steel and spring steel. The front I closed on this one to give it a different look. I know that sometimes when the busk is in the front it looks more like lingerie or can be bulky looking. I decided to make one without the busk in case one decided to wear it more like a top or underneath a form fitting shirt ect. The only trouble is that it makes it difficult to get on so be prepared to either have a friend help you in it or have a bit of a struggle lol. Also because I myself have been guilty of this don't put this style of corset on after you've already done your hair and makeup. I know that's a bit of an obvious thing but sometimes us girls forget while in the moment. = ) The back grommets are nickel in color and hammered over a steel lacing ladder to keep them from ripping through the fabric and allowing great ease in lacing up.

The sizing of a corset I always find seem to vary. Most corsets that are made today are designed to take you in about 4-6 inches of your natural size. The corset in this image shows a 28in waist reduced down to 25in when the back is laced completely closed. I wouldn't suggest trying to get to much more than that taken in on your waist due to the fact our bodies aren't used to it and the corsets need to at least wrap around to the back a little. If they don't then it may not close hardly at all as it will be fighting against your ribcage. The cups on this are also a C. In the picture it shows a D cup person in a C cup corset. I found that the C cup gave more lift and actually fit tight against the chest while the D cup had a bit of a gap that could be a bit revealing. When laced up completely the chest measures 33in.

Keep in mind that I can use just about any fabric and and color/design so if there is something you would prefer other than what you see here contact me and we can discuss it further.
